PROCESS FOR APPLYING FOR FINANCIAL AID
Congratulations on your acceptance to FNU. If you would like to apply for financial aid, please complete the documents listed below.
- Please apply for your FAFSA PIN number at www.pin.ed.gov. This is your personal identification number. You will need this in order to complete steps 2-4.
- Complete the 2012-2013 FAFSA using your 2011 tax returns at www.fafsa.ed.gov. The FNU school code is G30070. When completing the FAFSA, please be sure to indicate you are a GRADUATE student in any question that asks about your status. If you currently have a 2012-2013 FAFSA on file, you will need to add FNU as a school using the previously mentioned school code.
- E-sign an Unsubsidized Stafford loan Master Promissory Note (MPN) at www.studentloans.gov. This form is your contract with the US Department of Education obligating you to re-pay any federal Stafford loan funds that you borrow while enrolled at FNU.
- Complete the Unsubsidized Stafford loan Entrance Counseling at www.studentloans.gov. The Entrance Counseling will offer information about student loans, as well as interest rates and repayment options.
- Complete your program declaration form which can be found at: https://www.midwives.org/forms/ProgramDeclaration.asp
- E-sign the Financial Aid Policies statement which can be found at: http://www.midwives.org/forms/finAidPolicies/finAidPolicyStatement.aspx
Steps 1-6 MUST be completed two weeks prior to attending Frontier/Bridge/DNP Bound
While at Bound, you will have a meeting with a Financial Aid staff member. During this meeting, you will be given the opportunity to ask questions and sign your Award Letter.
FINANCIAL AID OVERVIEW
- Majority of students are eligible for a maximum of $20,500 per year. However, there are three factors that may affect eligibility for loans: 1) Being close to or exceeding your graduate aggregate loan limit of $138,500, 2) defaulting on a student loan, and 3) not being a permanent resident or citizen of the United States.
- The Frontier Nursing University operates on a schedule of four terms per school year: Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring. For example, if you choose to borrow the full $20,500 per year, you will receive an estimated net amount of $5,100 in financial aid per term. This amount is sufficient in covering tuition and fees.
- We strive to have the financial aid posted to your account by the tuition due date. When your account is at a $0 balance, the residual funds will be sent to you via check or direct deposit. The direct deposit form will be available at Bound. In the event your loan amount is less than your tuition and fees, the Accounting Department will notify you via e-mail.
